Letters to Heaven: Tattoo Session 1

I’m excited to blog about Tattoo session 1 over the laser-scarred area on my leg. {see my previous blog for the back-story on that…}

So, Dec. 1 I went to Black Lotus Tattoo Gallery in Severn, MD and had session 1 with Jackie. {blacklotustattoos.com} Jackie specializes in cover-up work.

The first session was more collaboration and planning, as well as some drawing on my leg in sharpies. Then, we did get to tattoo for about 2.5 hours. Each session scheduled is 4 hours long. For session 2 we will be tattooing most of the 4 hours; so expect way more progress and detail from those pics.

When viewing the photos, please note that Jackie experimented with various needles, techniques, shading, contouring and color. It is important to see what is going to work best over the scarred tissue on my leg, as she has never tattooed skin that has had 20+ laser treatments (she has tattooed skin that has had12 laser treatments). After we see how the different areas heal and hold color we will have a better idea on how to move forward, creating beautiful work. I also want to mention that Jackie tattooed me as lightly as she could to avoid further tissue damage; and the skin was physically difficult to tattoo.

But, in the meantime, this is pretty amazing & awesome!
